The Journey to Marymount

Sister Phyllis looked at Sister Eymard and said, "I guess we are moving.  Why not?"  This happened on the day of the Fall Assembly at Clare Oaks as we acknowledged that this move would be a good way for all the members of the congregation to be together in one place.  Our plan was to move some time in 2019, but a health issue came up that required Sister Eymard to move temporarily to the Felician Health Care Center for a few months of therapy.  As the time drew nearer, there was a lot of packing and sorting to do, but we got the job done, and on June 9th, a truck came to transport most of our belongings to our new apartment at Marymount Congregational Home.  We stayed for the Jubilee Celebration at Bartlett and two days later Sister Alexanne and I took turns driving as the three of us traveled to Marymount Convent.

We arrived safely, but just as we were settling in, Sister Eymard  experienced some respiratory difficulties and was taken to the hospital where it was diagnosed that she had  pneumonia.  Sister Eymard then moved to a room at Marymount Place and several weeks later I was able to pack up her things and move into an adjoining room.

Looking  back at the year, what made the move easy for us was knowing that we were coming  as Sisters, and not as strangers to live in a strange place.  We were coming to live with Sisters from our own community.  As in any move it was difficult not being able to take everything that we needed to bring to Marymount.  And we both agreed that we still miss the people we left behind including our family, friends, and Sisters.  Now however, we are reconnecting with the Sisters at Marymount and establishing new friendships with the people around us.  Both of us enjoy taking daily walks throughout the campus and "investigating" our surroundings.  One of our first investigations was discovering where the hospital helicopter took off and landed.  We feel that God has blessed us in our decision and want to encourage all of our Sisters to, "fear not for God will bless us".
