A New Year, A New Beginning
This was very true for Sister Karen and Sister Florence, who were one of our first sisters to move from Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Garfield Hts., Ohio. So, how was that experience, and how have they adjusted to their new home? As Sister Karen explains it:
“The initial conversations around the subject of moving centered around my move. Then little by little other sisters began talking about it in terms of our move. This gave everyone the incentive to start considering what really mattered, what we needed for ourselves, and what we could let go of. We began asking how we could help one another in the move.”
Even though Sister Karen was mentally and spiritually ready for the move, the task of packing and getting everything together was a bit overwhelming at first. However with the help of others, both she and Sister Florence got their boxes packed and made the move on January 2nd. All of their furniture and personal items had been sent to Marymount Place the week before and were arranged in their new rooms, waiting for their arrival. (Sister Karen recommends planning where you want your furniture in advance on paper so that the movers can have everything in place.) The drive on January 2nd took the entire day, and even though everyone was tired, and it was late, a group of sisters from Marymount was there waiting to welcome Sister Karen and Sister Florence.
As they continue to settle in, Sister Florence has pictures of her last days at Stevens Point and of her first days at Marymount Place out to share with others. Sister Karen has already applied for and received her new library card and can’t wait to explore the nearby public library in Garfield Hts.
