A New Year’s Prayer for Peace

Let Holy Peace be the presence we bring every day,

To our work,

To our studies,

To our tables,

To our relationships.

Let Holy Peace be the presence that dissolves,

The violence in our hearts,

The hate that blinds us,

The hurt that holds us back,

The fear that prevents us from loving.

Let Holy Peace be the presence that gives

Hope to someone who has none,

Joy to someone who has only seen sorrow,

Faith to someone who has lost it,

Purpose to someone who is searching.

Let Holy Peace be the presence that forgives

The selfishness within us,

The indifference around us,

The anger between us,

The sins among us.

May God’s Holy Peace be with us all.
