Morning Prayer

Lord my God,
Like the rest of creation at the beginning of this day,
I am not yet fully awake.
Open not only my eyes,
But awaken my heart
to the mystery of Your Divine Presence in all the earth.

I arise to meet the challenges of this day in my work.
I arise to greet the surprises
hidden in the hours of this fresh and new day.
I arise also to embrace the mystery of the Cross of Christ
which awaits me in the troubles of today.

I join myself with all of those who love You and seek You
regardless of their race or creed.
In that holy unity, I enter into stillness.
