Sisters celebrate World Day for Consecrated Life

On Saturday, February 3, Sisters Dorothy Pagosa, Sharon Dillon, and Marcella Nowakowski attended a World Day for Consecrated Life event for the Archdiocese of Chicago, which gathered at Queen of All Saints Basilicam. Speakers for the event included Sister Patsy Crowley, OSB, and Br. Michael Gosch, CSV, with conversation and focus on immigration, DACA and the unmet needs in our society today. Cardinal Blasé Cupich also greeted the gathered with a Feast Day song to St. Blaise, and held an open Question and Answer time with those present before celebrating the Mass for the event. Younger and new religious were also present at this day. Pictured below are Sisters Jessi, Chioma, and Kelly who sat with Sister Sharon at her table.

Pope Saint John Paul II instituted World Day for Consecrated Life for men and women in consecrated life back in 1997. This day is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord and is also known as Candlemas Day, the day on which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ who is the light of the world.

Please remember all of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis in your prayers, especially our Sister Barb Knauf as she continues to prepare towards her final commitment as an SSJ-TOSF. Remember also all those men and women who are seriously discerning life as a consecrated person. May they continue to listen deeply and have courage to follow this call of love and service to God's people.
